(English translation of Interview below)
Wenn ein Halbjahr nicht wenigstens ein bisschen holprig anfängt, dann passt es nicht zu Hell Boulevard, so könnte man meinen (wir berichteten). Nur um Haaresbreite verpassten sie der Opener des M’era Luna 2016 zu werden und auch der Release zum Debütalbum wurde nach hinten verschoben. [Edit: hier könnt ihr unser Review zum Album lesen]
So weit, so gut – im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Denn nur so ergab sich die nötige Zeit die insgesamt 15 Titel nochmal durch die Mischpulte des legendären Chameleon Studios laufen lassen zu können.
Was Chris Harms außerdem noch damit zu tun hat und von welchen Musikern Hell Boulevard ihrerseits mal einen Titel durchmixen wollen und was sie gemeinsam mit DARKHAUS vorhaben, das hat uns Matteo „vDiva“ Fabbiani in einem Interview verraten.

Ginger: Kannst du unseren Leser Hell Boulevard kurz vorstellen?
Matteo: Hell Boulevard ist mein letztes Projekt nach Lost Area. Die Besetzung besteht aus mir, meinem alten Freund Von Marengo an der Gitarre (er ist auch ein ehemaliges Mitglied von Lost Area und ist aktuell Livegitarrist von Florian Grey), der Schweizer Drummer A.Ve, der ein absoluter Neuling in der Gothicszene ist und der Deutsche Bassspieler Dee Dammers, der außerdem ein außergewöhnlich talentierter Gitarrenspieler ist.
Und zu guter Letzt sind wir dabei unser erstes Album Inferno zu veröffentlichen. Ihr solltet euch das unbedingt ansehen!
Ginger: Perfekte Überleitung! Die Veröffentlichung eures Debütalbums wurde für den 8. Juli angekündigt, aber verschoben. Was ist passiert?
Matteo: Nun, hauptsächlich aufgrund einiger technischer Probleme und bla bla bla… Es ist wirklich eine lange und langweilige Geschichte. Auch ist es nicht so leicht eine Independent Band zu sein, wie es von außen scheint; manchmal funktioniert der Zeitplan nicht so, wie man es geplant hatte. Auf der anderen Seite bedeutet eine Independent Band zu sein auch, dass man sich den Luxus leisten kann, nicht an Fristen gebunden zu sein und solange am Projekt zu arbeiten, bis wir 100%ig zufrieden sind.
Ginger: War es daher geplant die Produzenten Chris Harms und Benjamin Lawrenz aus den berühmten Chameleon Studios Hamburg auszuwählen letzte Hand anzulegen?
Matteo: Eigentlich war es etwas, worüber Chris und ich schon seit einiger Zeit sprachen. Jedoch hätte das mit der geplanten Deadline im Sommer mit Chris‘ und den vom Chameleon Studios vollgepackten Zeitplan nicht funktioniert. Sie zu haben, um Inferno zu mastern, war ein weiterer guter Grund um den Releasetag zu verlegen und, um ehrlich zu sein, könnte ich nicht glücklicher darüber sein, dass dies passiert ist. Das Album hört sich absolut UNGLAUBLICH an; Chris und Benjamin haben einen großartigen Job gemacht!
Ginger: Bitte beschreibe deine Musik mit 5 Worten.
Matteo: Gothic. Sexy. Laut. Rock’n’Roll. Leidenschaftlich.
Ginger: Im Oktober geht ihr mit DAKRHAUS auf Tour quer durch Deutschland. Wie kam es zu dieser Zusammenarbeit?
Matteo: Ich bin ein DARKHAUS/Eisbrecher Fan und, wie es jeder andere Fan auch tut, habe ich Rupert nach einem Gig fangirlmäßig abgepasst! *ahaha* Erst Monate später hat mir Rupert eine Mail geschrieben und gefragt, ob ich Lust hätte ihre Aufritte auf deren “When Sparks Ignite” Tour mit Hell Boulevard zu eröffnen… Und ich glaube ihr könnt euch alle vorstellen, wie meine Antwort lautete!
Ginger: Stichwort ‚Kooperation‘: In der Vergangenheit hattest du einige davon mit Chris und seiner Band Lord of the Lost auf verschiedenste Art. Du bist mit ihnen zweimal mit deiner alten Band Lost Area getourt, du hast 3 Musikvideos mit deiner Firma VDPictures mit ihnen gemeinsam produziert und einen Remix zum Lord of the Lost – Album ‚From the Flame Into the Fire (Deluxe Edition) beigesteuert. Was wird als Nächstes kommen, außer die Produktion eures neuen Albums?
Matteo: Nur um das klarzustellen: Chris und Benjamin haben sich nur um das Mastering von ‚Inferno‘ gekümmert. Ich möchte diese Zusammenarbeit gern in der Zukunft weiterführen, aber es ist viel zu früh, um ernsthaft darüber nachzudenken. Außerdem wird Chris auf einem unserer Tracks singen. Diese Liebesgeschichte ist noch lang nicht vorbei und wir haben auch schon etwas geplant, aber das ist immer noch streng geheim!
Ginger: Werden auch physische Exemplare im Shop verfügbar sein, oder wird es als Download zur Verfügung stehen, wie die bereits veröffentlichten Singles?
Matteo: Beides. Inferno wird digital verfügbar sein auf allen großen Plattformen UND es wird auch physische Exemplare geben über unseren offiziellen Shop, wie auch in allen großen Plattenläden in Deutschland und der Schweiz. Ginger: Gibt es einen Song, den du gern remixen würdest?
Matteo: Im Moment mag ich wahnsinnig gern Lacrimas Profundere’s letzte Single ‚Hope is Here‘.
Jungs, wenn es irgendeine Chance gibt, dass ihr das hier lest…Ich stehe zur Verfügung! *ahah*
Ginger:> Letzte Frage: Auf welchen Kinofilm freust du dich dieses Jahr noch?
Matteo: Ich bin ein ziemlich großer Fan von Animationsfilmen (insbesondere Disney) und ich habe bis jetzt nicht ‚Pets‘ gesehen. Ich werde den mir definitiv bald ansehen!
Ginger: Can you introduce Hell Boulevard for our readers? Who are you?
Matteo: Hell Boulevard is my last project after Lost Area. The line up includes myself, my old friend Von Marengo at guitars (he’s also a former member of Lost Area and currently live guitar for Florian Grey), Swiss drummer A.ve who’s a complete newbie in the gothic scene and German bass player Dee Dammers, who’s also an extremely talented guitar player.
Ginger: Perfect segway! The release of your debut album was announced for the 8th July but postponed. What happened?
Matteo: Well, mainly it was due to some technical issues and bla bla bla… it’s a long and boring story, really. Also, being an independent band is not as easy as it may look from the outside, sometimes the timeplan just does not work out as you planned. On the other hand being an independent band means we can afford the luxury of not having mandatory deadlines and being able to work on a project until we’re 100% satisfied.
Ginger: Was it now planned to choose the producers Chris Harms and Benjamin Lawrenz of the famous Chameleon Studios Hamburg to do the finishing touch?
Matteo: It was actually something Chris and I were discussing since long time. However, with the scheduled Summer deadline it was just not gonna work due to Chris’ and Chameleon Studios’ busy schedule. Having them to master Inferno was actually another good reason to postpone the release date and I honestly could not be any happier it has happened. The album sounds absolutely AMAZING, Chris and Benjamin have done such a great job!
Ginger: Please describe your music in 5 words.
Matteo: Gothic Sexy. Loud. Rock’n’Roll. Passionate.
Ginger: In October you are on tour with DAKRHAUS across Germany. How did this cooperation happen?
Matteo: I’m a DARKHAUS/Eisbrecher fan and, just like every good fan does, I located Rupert after a gig and went fangirlin’! *ahaha* Months and months after that Rupert emailed me asking if I would have liked to open their gigs for the “When Sparks Ignite” Tour with Hell Boulevard… I guess you all know what was my answer!
Ginger: Keyword ‚cooperation‘: In the past you had a lot of those with Chris and his band Lord of the Lost in different ways. You’re toured with them twice with your old band Lost Area, you directed three music videos with your company VDPICTURES for them and you made a remix for the Lord of the Lost album From the Flame Into the Fire (Deluxe Edition). What will come next, except producing of your new album?
Matteo: Just to clarify: Chris and Benjamin only took care of the mastering part for Inferno. I would like to expand this collaboration even further in the future, but it’s far too early to even think about it. Also, Chris is singing on one of our tracks. This lovestory is clearly not over just yet, we are kinda planning something already but it’s still totally top secret!
Ginger: Will physical copies be available in stores or will it be available as download like the already released singles?
Matteo: Both things. Inferno will be available digitally on all main platforms AND there’s also going to be a physical version available through our Official Store as well as in all main record stores throughout Germany and Switzerland. We will be giving more details about the official release date via our Official Facebook Page pretty soon.
Ginger: Is there a current song that you would like to remix?
Matteo: At the moment I really like Lacrimas Profundere’s last single Hope is Here. Guys, if by any chance you’re reading this… I’m available! *ahah*
Ginger: Last question: What movie you are looking forward to this year in cinema?
Matteo: I’m a pretty big animation movie fan (Disney in particular) and I haven’t yet watched ‚The Secret Life of Pets‘. I will definitely watch that soon!
