Live Review: Aesthetic Perfection / 26.04.2017 / Berlin

(English translation below)

Im Anschluss rockten Army Of The Universe die Bühne. Of The Universe irgendwie einzigartig.

In the end of April Aesthetic Perfection stopped in Berlin with their Industrial Pop Tour. With the support of NYXX, Army Of The Universe and Wilian Control it turned out loud at the Musik und Frieden. All bands are marked by their very dancable industrial sound, which you can’t (and won’t) get rid of when it hits your ear. Standing still is no option so it has been danced and celebrated all night long on April 26th.

NYXX is a solo artist from L.A., who is self-taught and self-produced. With her unique voice she gives a very special mixture somewhere between Britney Spears and Nine Inch Nails. As „female Rob Zombie“ she makes Goth Pop with EBM sounds and Industrial influences. Together with Solar Fake she supported Aesthetic Perfection on their Industrial Pop Tour trough North-America. Thank God mastermind Daniel Graves took her to Europe. NYXX is a mixture of innocent little girl and hot vamp. And so her music is too: carried by her fine voice she celebrates lyrics which are illuminating the darker side of glitz. The set consisting of 6 Songs she played with a smile on her pretty face and – her hot body veiled in Latex – sexy moves in the light. Espacially Diabolical stays in mind – a very powerfull song with catchy sound, lyrics easy to follow and to sing along which awakens this inevitably desire to move and dance. NYXX – the name is inspired by the greek godess of night (Nyx) – is not just a pleasure for the ears but also beautifull to look at. Unfortunately she lives quite far away, so visits in Germany will probably be rare. Therefore I advise you to see NYXX live as soon and as often as possible – I will do! You could and should pass the time until her return to our republic with her debut album Nightmare (published in April 2016).

Next on the stage were Army Of The Universe. With their electronic New Wave/Industrial/Rock Soundthe three guys from Milan with residence in L.A. are active in the scene since 2008. With the mixture of electronic beats with hard guitar-riffs they hold a Musical balance between Industrial and Rock. The voice of singer Lord K does the rest and so the sound of Army Of The Universe is kinda unique. This awesome mixture not just tempt to dance and sing along but also to rock hard to. Unfortunately I can’t reflect so much about the setlist, because it was the first time for me to see and hear them. But one song really stays in mind: 1999 from they current album 1999 & The Aftershow (published in October 2016). A solid song to sing along, to dance and celebrate to. Through their energetic Performance Army Of The Universe is a band you should see live on stage. From mid-May on they are on U.S. Tour with The Birthday Massacre, but hopefully they find the way back to Good Old Germany very soon.

A more energetic and powerfull show as the one from William Control I’ve never seen before. Especially one of the keyboarders was like a Duracell-rabbit – he jumped and screamed into the microphone and in the end he literally danced on the crowd (see the evidence in the gallery) – it was insane but absolutely great to watch. But also the other two instrumentalists and singer William – who smoked and had a very cool appearance with his tattoos looking out of his black suit – delivered a magnificent show. Not only in front of the stage the crowd was dancing – I even caught myself in dancing instead of taking pictures *whistle“ – but the guys on stage did so too. They jumped, banged with their heads to the music, swirled the mic in the air and so on. And also here I can’t say something to the single songs, because to date I also didn’t even know William Control (I regret this, because I obviously really missed something) but all in all the music was very good: danceable with earwig character and surely with great lyrics. I will listen to this again more precisely. My first Impression of William Control was very good so I will add them to my „Must See“ list.

The final and perfectly Line-Up rounding highlight was Aesthetic Perfection. The first headliner tour for 3 years they traveled through North-America and Europe. One could say through this force-consuming travel a lot of energy gets lost, but it doesn’t! The three guys were powerful as always and as the fans are used to it. Accompanied by a lot of fog drummer Tim and keyboarder Elliot found their way to the instruments. With a very big smile on his face and dressed in a glittering jacket Daniel Graves entered the stage. The first song was Spitting Blood, but at the second song Antibody the crowd freaked out: they danced and sang and just had an awesome time. Climbing monkey Elliot had some fun with his keys while Tim didn’t even had a chair at his drum set. The whole time he stood which gave him much more space to dance and jump and hit the drums with massive energy. Sometimes singing sometimes screaming vocal wonder and mastermind Daniel gave every single song something special with his unique voice. All in all a typical Aesthetic Perfection gig which is not meant negative! But in contrary, because with them you know what you get and all expectations were met. One really special moment had a girl in the first row at the last song as Elliot took his keys, placed it into her arms and played on it. It was pretty cool to watch this scene – this is something which makes a concert very special and a unique remembrance. After 11 songs it was over – way too fast and with a outlook of a way too long time to see them again. For me it is always worth to see Aesthetic Perfection live and that won’t change. So I’ll sit here waiting for the next announcement for a gig in Germany…
